Aegis have been affiliated to the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) for many years and all General Secretaries of the affiliated unions are members of the GFTU Executive.
Over the years our reps have taken advantage of many training courses and events put on by them during this time.
The GFTU provide a wide range of training and development courses, many are free of charge, not just for union reps but for union members too. Although we pay for Aegis reps travel for training we cannot pay for members travel to and from Quorn Grange Hotel.
However, if you’re interested you can check what’s available on their website or on the GFTU section of our website.
There’s loads of online training available as well as ‘in the classroom, face to face’ training and courses.
If you find something you would like to attend please let me know and I’ll help with your arrangements.
One event I would like to bring to your attention, and there’s more details on the GFTU website, is their new Women in Leadership course which is held in Glasgow from 1-3 March. They are also in the process of organising an ‘Activist Academy’ for September this year, which will help with mapping the development of our union reps. This should be advertised at the end of February.
The GFTU has been going through a new branding exercise, which was agreed by the Executive today, so hopefully you should start to see the new logo’s and branding start to appear during February.
If you do see any courses you’d like to know more about, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.
